Activity 13-Clacker Conservation

Objectives
• observe and identify action and reaction forces that cause the clacker to behave as it does
• identify momentum conservation behaviors in clackers that demonstrate that momentum is conserved
• predict which clacker behaviors will be possible in microgravity
Vocabulary
conservation of momentum - no energy is lost in the transfer of energy by objects in motion
momentum - strength of an object's motion (momentum = object's mass x velocity)
action force
mass
microgravity
Newton's 3rd Law of Motion
reaction force
velocity
