KUDOS TO VOLUNTEERS!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of the many community and parent volunteers who have made a difference in our school and in the lives of our students this past year. One takes a risk in mentioning particular individuals in such a thank you, because there are many who quietly go about their work unnoticed. However, I would like to acknowledge the dedicated work of a few individuals in particular. Their many hours of work both in and out of the school day have made an incredible difference!

Peggy Thomas and Deb Wilson teamed to work on the sixth grade yearbook this year. You may have noticed Peggy in the computer lab, working for hours downloading pictures into the evolving yearbook. Peggy is an photographer who has developed a fine following for her work. Her hours of editing and refining the final product of the Bobcat Yearbook 2016 is admirable and much appreciated! Deb worked more behind the scenes and sent the final product out for production.

Thanks to both of them for making this a yearbook for students to remember!

Peggy also organized a parent team to host our 2nd annual HES sixth grade dance, which will be held June 15th at 6:30 pm in the gymnasium. David Martin, our OSSU Network Administrator will serve again as DJ for the event. As the kids would tell you, “he rocks”!

Tanya Deyo is also a familiar volunteer face about our school. She has cleaned and organized our library shelves and assisted students in checking out books. If you take a look at our library, you will see that her work, along with that of Mrs. Jolley, has made a real difference.

Peggy Sprague has done an outstanding job in her role as Four Winds Coordinator. Once again, dedicated hours of preparation work make for fantastic science programming for our students. She personally supports our Four Winds Volunteers, and awarded each of them with a volunteer pin this year. Thank you, Four Winds Volunteers!

Next year, I would like to have a volunteer coordinator take on the management and recruitment of more school volunteers. It might be a nice to also log volunteer hours and see how much time our family and community folks dedicate to this work. Please contact me if you think this is something you’d like to try!

A sincere thank you to all!
