The week of Monday, April 27th to Friday, May 1st, the first week back after April vacation, will be Literacy Week, an entire week’s worth of celebrating Literacy.  Activities will include two guest authors (David Martin and Linda Urban),  Drop Everything and Read, a Poetry Walk, Poem in Your Pocket Day, and a Read-In on Friday.

We especially invite parents, grandparents, and community members to come in Friday morning, May 1st for each classroom’s Read-In.  Family members can meet in their student’s classroom at 7:55 A.M.  Community members will meet in the art room at the same time.  From 8:00 to 8:30 is time to listen to students read and/or read to students.  It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to share and celebrate what they can do, and for families and the community to perhaps share their favorite age-appropriate books and stories with groups of youngsters.  We hope to see you here!  Parking can be an issue so you might want to plan to arrive early to allow time for that.
